I. INTRODUCTION TO LANLOGIN
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
1. LANLOGIN OVERVIEW
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
LANLOGIN was developed for LANtastic Network 4.x. It allows to
log into a server in an easy way. It releases you from writing
complex BATCH files.
LANLOGIN is able to execute a user dependent REDIRECTION PROFILE.
Therefore each user can have his own predefined redirections.
2. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
LANLOGIN was written for the LANtastic NOS 4.1 but it should work with
NOS 4.0 (3.x) as well. I tested the program on MS-DOS 5.0 but there
shouldn't be any troubles on earlier versions.

II. USING LANLOGIN
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
1. THE INTERFACE
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
The top window :
----------------
Here you can see the name of your workstation and the login server.
When executed, LANLOGIN detects all the servers available for login.
It selects the first of them as your login server.
Machine Name : EISA
Login Server : EISA
If you want to log in to another server just press the <F1>-key to
popup a list with servers available for login.
The middle window :
-------------------
Enter username and password here. You can switch between the fields
using the <TAB>-key.
Bottom of the screen :
--------------------------
Here action and error messages are displayed.
NOTE : LANLOGIN is not intended to be a security door for your network.
It just makes login easier.

2. LANLOGIN COMMAND LINE OPTIONS
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
LANLOGIN only has one command line argument.
/c : This will force LANLOGIN to execute the commands listed
in the file USERNAME.DEV after a successfull login.
It is important that the USERNAME.DEV files reside in the same
directory from which LANLOGIN is executed !
3. USERNAME.DEV FILES
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
These files are optionalthey don't necessarily have to exist.
This feature of LANLOGIN is great if different users work
on the same machine. After a successfull login the program auto-
matically executes the commands listed in the USERNAME.DEV file.
Example : You log in as user OPERATOR
--------------------------------------------------------------
;LOGIN Script for USER OPERATOR
;
;Last modified 14-JAN-93
REDIRECT PRINTER LPT1 \\EISA\@LASER
REDIRECT DRIVE E: \\EISA\C-DRIVE
LOGIN TOWER SYSTEM OPER
REDIRECT DRIVE H: \\TOWER\C-DRIVE
REDIRECT DRIVE I: \\TOWER\D-DRIVE
REDIRECT PRINTER LPT2 \\TOWER\@MATRIX
;[EOF : OPERATOR.DEV]

THE DEFAULT_SERVER statement
Each user can have his default login server. LANLOGIN tries
to get the default server whilst the user is entering his
username and password. If successfull, "Login Server" in the
top window will change after pressing <TAB> or <RETURN>.
Syntax: DEFAULT_SERVER SERVER
THE REDIRECT statement : Lets you redirect devices such as
DRIVES A: - Z:
PRINTERS LPT1: - LPT3:
to a server.
Syntax: REDIRECT DeviceType DeviceName DevicePath
DeviceType is either DRIVE or PRINTER.
DevicePath is a legal network path \\server\resourcename
THE LOGIN statement : Lets you login to another server.
Syntax: LOGIN servername [username] [password]
LOGIN TOWER SYSTEM OPERATOR
Use username and password only if they are not equal to the
the information you enter at the login screen.
NOTE: The Shareware version of LANLOGIN only executes ONE statement !
III. LANLOGIN ERROR MESSAGES
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
The following error messages may appear when using LANLOGIN.
A brief explanation of each message along with possible solutions
is listed below.
- INVALID USERNAME OR PASSWORD.
The answer is the message itself.
- LANtastic NOS NOT LOADED. (Errorlevel 40h = 64)
The LANtastic netware must be loaded before using LANLOGIN.
- THERE ARE NO LOGIN-SERVERS AVAILABLE. (Errorlevel 80h = 128)
There are no more servers available to log in.
Reason:
- You are logged in to all servers available on the network.
- DEFAULT SERVER NOT ONLINE. SELECTING [xxxxx] AS DEFAULT SERVER
The default server set in your USERNAME.dev file doesn't seem
to be online at the moment. LANLOGIN selects the first server
in list as the new default server.
